With the year’s end drawing near, the fashion world is beginning to take a look at what brands made waves in 2022. Once again, Lyst has unveiled its Year in Fashion Report – taking a keen look at the trends and brands that not only filled our conversations but our computer search history.

Leading the charge for 2022 as the Brand of the Year is Miu Miu. Over the past few years, the Parisian brand has grown in popularity due to a slew of viral moments like its sawed-off mini pleated skirt and which landed too many magazine placements to count and the revival of menswear with its Fall/Winter 22 show. 2022 data revealed a 49% increase in Miu Miu searches on Lyst’s Year on Year (YoY). Another brand that rose to the occasion was Diesel under the new direction of Glenn Martens. Specifically, Diesel took the Logo of the Year title with the brand entering Lyst’s hottest brands of the year index back in April alongside the popularity of its 1DR bag.

With Balenciaga’s consistent reign on Lyst’s index as one of the world’s hottest brands for the past few years, it comes as no surprise that the Spain-birthed brand appeared yet again. Earlier this year, Balenciaga claimed top honors for the hottest brand in Lyst’s Q1 report, which was released this past April. Now, the brand is taking home Fashion Show of the Year recognition thanks to its Fall 2022 Haute Couture show with searches for the house spiking 525% 24 hours after the show.

The discussion of fashion would not be complete without collaborations, which heavily comprise the space today. Out of the diverse catalog of collabs, Jacquemus x Nike came out on top with over 50,000 searces just 24 hours after the pairing was announced. Once the collection was released, searches on Lyst for Jacquemus increased by 55%. On a shoe and accessories front, the Birkenstock Boston Clog resurgence proved to be larger than expected with searches increasing by 594% in the first six months of the year – making it 2022’s hottest shoe. Other standouts include Prada’s Re-nylon Re-edition 2000 mini bag as the Milan-based brand’s most searched item of the year and JW Anderson’s sold-out 3D printed Pigeon clutch.
